International Week of Languages

Our annual “Week of Languages” celebrations took place during the last week of September in Prep and our theme this year was based on “Communication”.

Every pupil had the opportunity to communicate through the medium of Art by creating both a T-shirt picture and a badge featuring a greeting in a different language. All T-shirt entries were judged and prizes awarded at our special Friday assembly. The very creative and colourful winning entries are on display in the Prep Reception area.

In addition to our very own Mr. Tumble and our German language assistants visiting our Junior assembly, we were also delighted to welcome Mrs Laura Bloomer to our final assembly on Friday. She introduced the girls to “Makaton” as a different means of communication.

 Very ably supported by Maggie Irvine in Prep 5, Mrs Bloomer taught the girls a song using Makaton signing and a lot of fun was had by all!

Many thanks to all parents for helping with the usual dressing up and provision of international breaks!
